Trois Etapes Col du Galibier Challenge

Do you have what it takes to battle it out on the Galibier?

Challenge Ended: July 30, 2012
The infamous Col du Galibier is regarded as one of the toughest climbs in the Alps.

Last year, Pierre Rolland won France's first victory in the 2011 tour on its slopes and Andy Schleck held onto the Maillot Jaune heading into the final time trial.

Stage 2 of the Trois Etapes includes the Galbier as well as the famous Alpe d'Huez. This stage replicates almost precisely the route of Stage 19 of the 2011 Tour de France.

The day's riding includes the following sections:

A short (7km) downhill from the hotel in Orelle to the base of Col du Telegraph. This will be ridden in teams but not timed.

A team time trial climb of Galibier via Telegraph.

A controlled descent (not-timed, not-raced) from the summit of Galibier to the base of Alpe D'Huez.

A mass start of all riders, timed individually riding up Alpe D'Huez with Carlos Sastre. Riders are able to post their own individual times or to ride with Carlos Sastre for a photocall at Carlos' turn (17) before tackling the remainder of the climb at their own pace.
