A long day above 8,000ft in the cold! The Frye Fire and subsequent flooding has done a number on the forests in the Pinaleños. The destruction was mind boggling, even viewed from the Swift Trail (a graded dirt road). But first, I hiked out of Taylor Pass along Clark’s Peak Ridge, again, bushy & vague trail, sometimes non existent, but stunning scenery nonetheless. Then joined the aforementioned Swift Trail to avoid the down trees, charred forests, and piles of flood debris.
