Thru hiked the beautiful Sierra mountains from Yosemite (Tuolumne meadows) to Mt Whitney in 15 days, through lakes, meadows, waterfalls, eight 13K ft / 4km high passes, thunderstorms, lightning, hip deep river fords and hot springs, finishing at Mt Whitney, highest peak in the contiguous US. Resupplied on day 4 and day 8.
Hiking above 3000m elevation was harder for me, 100ft ascent feels like 100m ascent. And with so much elevation gain/loss, RIP the toe nails. Kept the pack weight as low as possible, 30lbs with 8 days food. Weather was highly unexpected with a lot of rain, flooding the trails and even my tent one night. Had to dig trenches around. Dug cat holes every day with no outhouses. Made a lot of friends on the trail. Overall, a very fun adventure. Would have to go back for the high Sierra trail or the SEKI loop.
