Long but successful day in the woods. This wasn’t a particularly spectacular section of trail but typical of the BMT the solitude and remoteness was enjoyable. Mountain Laurel was in full bloom along with many wildflowers. The section along Lost Creek was beautiful. Wish the trail was closer to the river along the Hiawassee River corridor but there were a few small stretches with beautiful views. Guidebook had this section at 37.6 miles, if accurate adjusted average pace was right at 19 minutes/mile. Did the first 18 miles without stopping then had 20 minute lunch break. After that just had a few short stops to rest feet.
