Rough one today, but August is complete. 48/48. 

Weather was, lets just say, far from ideal. At least for the first two hours. Really thought I could do this hike (which should have been about a mile shorter) in about four hours. I was even pretty on pace for the first hour summiting Jefferson in less than that, but conditions were not in my favor. 

Ever since hitting the alpine zone around 1.5 miles in all the way through mile 5, Conditions were rough. Strong winds (like 40+) and fog rolling over constantly. Visibility was probably about 50' at best, but due to the wind rapidly condensing the fog on my glasses, I was working with about half that most of the time. That led to numerous wrong turns, largely minor, but each one adding time and distance, and in some cases a full stop to figure out where I was and where the trail was. 

Plan was to take the typical Prezi route from Jefferson over to Madison, but literally had no visibility atop Adams and ended heading down the Star Lake trail. Haven't been on it in a while so it was kinda nice (and also blocked from the wind), but not my intended route. By the time I got to the lake and the hut, most of the fog had burnt off though I still had to deal with some going up Madison and saw more over on Adams. Luckily it all burnt off though and my trip back was pretty smooth sailing, just tiring given I already had over 5k vert in my legs at Madison. 

Looks like a got a couple segments, but kinda bummed I didn't get several more. Maybe another day. My fitness is there, just conditions weren't. Not when I step on a flat rock and still slip because the wind is that strong. At least I finished August and with a whole week to spare. Now I can start preparing both physically and mentally for September in which I need 22 more peaks. Should be able to do them all in 5 days, but there's gonna be some long days in there.
