A short hike to one of Hot Spring's must-see overlooks.
Goat Rock is a classic overlook hike on North Mountain that can be accessed in many different ways. Seen here, you'll begin at the large overlook on North Mountain, not to be confused with nearby Hot Springs Mountain and home of the [historic tower]( A visit to both can easily fit into one outing, and the Dogwood Trail offers access from the [Grand Promenade]( near the north end of Bathhouse Row. As you work your way down the trail from the overlook, several stone water-bars cross the trail and could be a trip hazard. As you near the overlook, you'll enjoy the views of Indian Mountain and east Hot Spring, passing some particularly rocky trail on the way. When you reach the boulder hanging over the trail, look for the sign leading to the overlook. A steep flight of stairs leads to the vista nearly 40' above. Parking is available near the overlook, but there is no potable water or restrooms nearby. The Gulpha Gorge Campground, Hot Springs Mountain Tower, and the main visitor center on Central Avenue are your closest options. [NPS]( Written by Brendon Voelker
