A gorgeous trail is a fitting tribute to America's heroes
The Purple Heart Trail is a trail designated to honor and recognize the sacrifices made by recipients of the Purple Heart medal, which is awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces wounded or killed in combat. It sits in the Tom Wallace Recreation Area, just to the south of Louisville.
The trail is fairly rugged, and provides a decent workout despite its relatively short length. Before and after the hike there is plenty to keep you busy, and the Tom Wallace Recreation Area is well equipped for picnics, camping and swimming in the Tom Wallace Lake.
The area is named after Tom Wallace, a former Forest Supervisor, and it's a little paradise for outdoor lovers! Enjoy this hike and its charming surroundings. Written by Charlie Boscoe
