An easy stroll which packs in plenty of action!
There aren't many simpler hikes out there than this one - it follows a clear, smooth path and is surrounded by landmarks, making it almost impossible to get lost! The stroll can be started from just about anywhere surrounding it, and there are plenty of variations should you want to explore a little. Don't simply follow the line we've drawn here - just consider our route a basic guideline of how to get between the main sights of Riverfront Park.
A great way to start your exploration of the Riverfront Park is to ride the SkyRide Gondola from the western end of the park. A ride on the gondola gives you a closeup view of the spectacular lower falls on the Spokane River and it is well worth the price of admission ($12.95 per adults at the time of writing - summer 2023).
Once underway with the hike itself, simply work your way around the sights and sounds of the park, taking in the various sections of waterfalls on the Spokane River, Inspiration Point on Canada Island, Spokane Pavillion and the Great Northern Clocktower. There's plenty to see on the walk and a maze of paths to explore, so wander around looking at whatever grabs your interest.
When you're done exploring the sights and admiring the river, spending an hour or so exploring Spokane's pleasant downtown area is recommended. The city is compact so it's easy to check out the main sights in an hour or so, and it's time well spent! Written by Charlie Boscoe
