River Gorge 10 Miler - 2 OA

Speedier than the air molecules

~8 min slower than last time. I’ve still got some work to do!
I forgot to change into my trail shoes until literally the last second - near catastrophe 😅
It almost felt like old times with all the OG trail bros out there! Was also great to meet Bryson and Chad!

Stayed right behind Bryson until mi 3. I fell behind on every little uphill - I felt like I didn’t have any climbing power. And I was just keeping up on the downhills and flats. Also I still haven’t figured out how to take gels while running hard. At Haley Rd (~mi 7) I was 2 min behind, and I got a second wind on the flatter section and thought I might have a chance to catch him… until i hit all those rocky sharp turns. I lost my flow and chilled a little bit and just ran it in. I guess I can’t complain too much for being just 6 months out of retirement 😅 I’m glad my ankle did well and I got to push hard on trails for the first time in quite a while.
