It has taken me some time to find the words to share this because it is so difficult. Last week, my sister, Katie, passed away far too young. She lived with metastatic breast cancer for five years. My family and I are heartbroken. It's hard to believe this is real. Her husband and two young sons now face a world without her love and care.

Katie was the kind of person who always put others before herself. She dedicated her life to teaching as an elementary school teacher in Boston, touching countless lives with her kindness and dedication. Even during her five-year battle with breast cancer, she continued to give—raising money, spreading awareness, and advocating for early detection.

Her efforts quite literally saved lives. My sister Christina, inspired by Katie’s advocacy, stayed vigilant about her health and detected her own breast cancer early, before it had a chance to spread.

Katie's strength, compassion, and selflessness will always be with us. She was a remarkable sister, wife, mother, and friend, and her loss is immeasurable.

In 2025, I am planning to host a fundraising event to honor my sister Katie’s memory and give back to the organizations that supported her and her family during her battle with metastatic breast cancer. My goal is to help provide other mothers facing this diagnosis with the peace of mind and support they deserve. Please stay tuned for more details
