Gave the record a go. 1:42 up south, 3:15 to middle, turned around part way thru the terrible traverse on North due to remaining ice/snow at 4:08. When clear, that traverse isn’t bad at all. I was shocked at how much sketchier it became trying to traverse only several feet around the established path. Not worth it in my opinion. Should be thawed very soon tho. Overall, I was tracking a couple minutes behind Max’s pace thru middle and up north. Had I been able to summit, my only hope for competing with his time would have been a run for my life down north, which I was not really feeling to up for anyways. I wish I could go up south faster, but about 1:40 up just seems to be my top end. Once I knew the record wasn’t an option, I definitely slowed down, back to pole creek in 6:24ish. I think the record is in reach for mere mortals who aren’t as good of a runner as Max. You just have to grind for 5.5 hours and not stop at all. Maybe I’ll give it another go later this summer. Oh, and my phone died coming down north, which is why the stats and map are off. Thank god I wasn’t in contention for the record, I would hate the shitstorm associated with uploading this track.
