Chobot Challenge Trail Race and 200-miler notes

Inaugural year.  The course starts in Red Rock Canyon and finishes in downtown Las Vegas.  After all the races I've done this year, including lots of trail races, I figured I was pretty immune to muscle soreness in the days after a marathon.  Wrong!  Wow, my quads are killing me.  Beware if you enter a downhill marathon!

I ran with my daughter.  She was nursing an injury and I was just seven days out from the Javelina Jundred, so we targeted a sub-4 and we nailed it with a 3:59:20.  (My watch must have been on autopause).

I imagine there was a lot of suffering at the start line.  We took the bus out from a balmy downtown, thinking that we perhaps overdressed, but it was thirty degrees and very windy at the start, and the waiting around in an open parking lot was more than an hour.  We were fine with a whole bunch of throwaway layers, but I think there were many who may have had only a foil.
