The Old AZT! What a freakin’ adventure! Loved getting off the mntb trails around Picket Post and into the White Canyon Wilderness! They are nice trails but I’ve hiked them twice now and wilderness walks are so much better. The Old AZT is no longer a trail per se, but once I found the cairns it was relatively easy to follow, until I inevitably lost them, again and again, repeatedly, of course. Excellent views, one giant boulder for shade, and then Walnut Canyon for camp! Spectacular water source a little ways up canyon. Really, any water naturally occurring is spectacular. I now worship water and any size, shape, or variety of shade.
